Summary of last couple days

So, I have been away because Baby AJ has arrived!

In that time (Monday and Tuesday), students had time to work on the Chapter 8 review in the book.  Pg. 535 I believe.

Also, from last week, students had 8-8 Practice Form G to work on.  This covered Factoring by Grouping, which is something we had already mostly gone over in our previous work.  It can be found in the "Student Resources" Section.

And, there is a flow chart made for some help with the factoring process.  This can be found here.

Factor by Grouping Practice

The class spent the time doing some practice on factoring by grouping.  We worked on the odd numbers on 8-8 Practice Form G from the student resources section in the online account.  The assigment is due next Tuesday (which is also the day of the test.  So if you want to have questions answered about it, make sure to work on it ahead of time.)  

A flow chart to help with the factoring process has been made and shared in the folder with you all.

8.8 Factor By Grouping

We did part of a section that was on factoring by grouping.  It is a similar process to what we have already done when we factored quadratic trinomials.  It just focuses on the part when you have 4 terms and you group the first two terms and last two terms.  We will practice more on it tomorrow, too.

Factoring with a > 1

We did some more factoring today.  This time it was when the number in front of x^2 was bigger than 1.  It was a little more of a process, but we listed out each step, which helped.

Factoring Quadratics

We started factoring simple quadratics today.  So, instead of multiplying two binomials together and getting a quadratic, we looked at starting with the quadratic and trying to work backwards to find the binomials.

Polynomial Practice and Quiz Practice

We spent the class time practicing multiplying special case binomials.  Then, we took time to complete the mid-chapter quiz as practice for the real quiz tomorrow.  Screen shots of the practice quiz are below.  Answers to the practice quiz will also be posted on a link.
